You can now add bras to the long list of things that it was once reported gave you cancer but actually do not.
The New York Times has revealed (only three years after Yahoo answers covered it) that those who wear bras more often are not at any increased risk of breast cancer. The claims, sadly, came from one study with “several academic flaws” that was never published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal. The study
did not adjust for known breast cancer risk factors that might be associated with bra-wearing behavior, like weight and age. Also, study participants knew the hypothesis before taking the survey.
So for those, like Healthrisk, who are so attached to their bras that they sometimes wear them in the shower, don’t set the girls free just yet.
